Organizations who support Senior Pet Adoptions
“The Grey Muzzle goal is to enable animal welfare organizations to improve their ability to provide care, comfort, and loving homes for old dogs. The organizations that we are supporting are chosen carefully and all have a commitment to senior dogs. We also encourage the formation of new non-profit organizations that care for senior dogs, such as hospice care.”
CALIFORNIA
Hart (Humane Animal Rescue Team)- non-profit organization “dedicated to the rescue, caretaking, and adoption of senior dogs since 1984.”
Muttville- “a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to improving the lives of senior dogs. On a local level, Muttville rescues senior dogs and finds them new homes or gives them hospice. On a global level, Muttville provides information about caring for older dogs and support for people who do.”
Peace of Mind- a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that finds “new permanent loving homes for dogs whose person can no longer care for them due to illness, death, or other challenging life circumstances, and to relieving the suffering of senior dogs who end up in animal shelters and have a poor chance of getting adopted from the shelter.”
Senior Mutt Match- “a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that promotes the adoption of older dogs, raises funds to help non-profits with the care of senior dogs and educates the public about the wonderful attributes of senior dogs.”
ILLINOIS
Pets for Seniors- “an organization that matches cats and dogs from shelters and foster pet groups with senior citizens who might need a little help with the responsibilities of pet ownership. We are a 501(c)3 organization ”
Young at Heart Pet Rescue- “501(c)3 not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of mature and senior dogs and cats. ”
INDIANA
Joey’s Home Senior Dog Rescue- “a small, independent rescue dedicated to the rescue/placement of senior/special needs dogs.” ... a 501(c)3 organization
MARYLAND
House with a Heart- “to provide a home for senior pets. We provide love, affection and shelter. Many of these dogs receive medical care, such as diagnostic screenings, dental care, surgery, and medications, as needed.”
MISSOURI
St. Louis Senior Dog Project- “a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in the state of Missouri. We are an all volunteer organization that rescues dogs or all ages but especially dogs 5 years of age and older. We actively promote the adoption of older dogs.”
MONTANA
The Senior Dog House and Rescue- “a non-profit, private organization in the state of Montana. We are dedicated to rescuing, living with and adopting small (20 pound and under) senior dogs”
OHIO
The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs - “a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, adoption, and lifelong care of senior dogs abandoned in shelters and pounds. All of our dogs live in Sanctuary-approved foster homes until a permanent home can be found. Senior dogs too ill to be adopted stay in a Sanctuary hospice foster home for life. All senior dogs are spayed or neutered prior to placement.”
OREGON
Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon (SDRO) - “is a non-profit group of volunteers based in Philomath, Oregon. We are an IRS-designated 501(c)(3) charitable organization.”
WASHINGTON
Old Dog Haven - “a small nonprofit group using a network of foster homes to provide a loving safe home for abandoned senior dogs.”
WISCONSIN
Greyhound Pets of America - “GPA is a nationwide non-profit, volunteer-supported organization dedicated to the placement of ex-racing Greyhounds in ideal home situations. ”
